Located east of Rochester, the town of Walworth is situated in Wayne County and has a population of about 9,000 residents. The town gained its name from a state official by the name of Reuben Walworth. Walworth was first settled in 1799 as a quaint residential community. In 1829, the community was separated from the Town of Ontario, and Walworth became its own independent town, which was the last town formed in Wayne County to date. Although Walworth was once a major fruit growing town, a freeze in 1934 greatly affected its agricultural market, which resulted in the decline of fruit growing in the town. One of the most exciting events that are held in Walworth is the Walworth Lions Club Festival in the Park, which also features a 5K run. Walworth also offers great outdoor and recreational services to all of its residents. Some of the recreational activities available to Walworth’s citizens include an archery camp, a football program, soccer program, adventure weeks, a quilting circle, and a senior citizens recreation program. Walworth is a friendly, beautiful town that has something great to offer to everyone.
