Much of the land that Eden is located on was once owned by a businessman by the name William Byrd, and he named the estate “The Land of Eden.” Today, the Miller Brewing Company and Hanes Brands are two major employers in the area. Several of the most popular attractions in Eden include the Olde Leaksville Shopping District, Veteran’s Day Celebration, the Smith River, Historic Mebane Bridge, the Riverfest, River Boat Men Mural, and Rubber Duck Regatta that takes place in the Spray Canal. The city also offers great dining, shopping, and recreational opportunities. Six State Parks are within an hour drive from Eden, all of which offer fun outdoor and recreational activities.
