Since the 1800’s, the High Point has been a leading center of furniture manufacturing, and the city holds the biannual International Home Furnishings Market, which attractions many buyers from around the world. Paint, chemical, school buses, electronics, and machinery manufacturing also play a role in the city’s economy. The city is also known for being the host of the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival.
