With a quickly growing population that is currently estimated at about 18,000, the town of Holly Springs in Wake County has the title of “The fastest growing town in North Carolina.” The Tuscarora Indians were the first people to settle in the area, and then around 1720, Europeans began to settle in the area. The town was established and grew around fresh water springs. The springs that are believed to be the original “holly springs” are located near the intersection of what is now Avent Ferry Road and Cass Holt Road. These crossroads helped spur the growth of the town. Some popular attractions at Holly Springs include Bass Lake, which offers excellent fishing, the Holly Springs Crossing shopping center, the beautiful neighborhood of Sunset Ridge North, the Holly Springs Cultural Center, and the historic Martin Collins House. Several exciting and fun events are held in Holly Springs, including Rocking at the Crossing music concerts, and the annual HollyFest, which takes place in the town’s beautiful Wombie Park. The beautiful and charming town of Holly Springs has something great to offer to everyone.
