The charming city of Lenoir is located in Caldwell County and has a population of about 17,000 residents. The city is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Brushy Mountains and Hibriten Mountain are also located in the city limits. Lenoir is also the county seat of Caldwell County. The city was named for Revolutionary War icon and early North Carolina statesman, General William Lenoir, who lived in the region. Lenoir is one of the major cities included in the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton, North Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2008, the city received the All-America City Award. One of the largest employers in Lenoir is the Broyhill furniture company, which is part of Furniture Brands International and one of the largest furniture companies in the nation. Broyhill also has its headquarters located in Lenoir. Google, Inc. also has plans to establish a server farm in Lenoir. The city also offers great shopping and dining opportunities at places such as Lenoir Mall. One of the most celebrated and exciting events held in Lenoir is the Blackberry Festival.
