Situated at the junction of the Walhonding River and the Tuscarawas River, Coschocton marks the source of the Muskingum River in Coshocton County. Its almost 12,000 residents live about 77 miles east of Columbus, Ohio and typically work within the city itself. Coshocton residents of a home or apartment for rent often work in the local coalmines or factories that manufacture customized merchandise for shipment across the nation. However, some of Coshocton’s inhabitants do commute to Columbus during the week. As part of Appalachian country, most Coshocton residents pride themselves on family-centered activities and welcoming hospitality. Residents of a Coshocton apartment or home rental enjoy all the comforts of a larger city, including shopping at Towne Centre and dining at fine steakhouses and diners. Coshocton even has its own newspaper, the Coshocton Tribune. The city also is home to the restored canal theme town of Roscoe Village, alongside the former Ohio and Erie Canal. In addition to the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, Coschocton’s residents enjoy the annual Hometown Festival, Heritage Craft & Dulcimer Music Festival, weekly farmers’ market, and even the August International King Midget Car Club Jamboree.
