Situated at the junction of multiple railroads and just a few miles south of Hopkins International, Olmsted Falls is a suburban city half an hour outside of downtown Cleveland. Olmsted Falls was settled in 1814 after founder Charles Olmsted when he agreed to donate his library making it the first of its kind west of the Alleghenies. The Southwest General Health Center provides the majority of jobs in Olmsted Falls, forcing most residents of an Olmsted Falls house or apartment for rent to commute into downtown Cleveland daily. Most residents of a house or apartment rental in Olmsted take full advantage of the Olmsted Community Center that plans annual events like Family Campout at East River Park and Heritage Days Old Fashion Home Town Festival. The city offers a convenient neighborhood that boasts over a hundred local stores, although most residents choose to travel into Cleveland to shop at larger national retailers. The historic shopping area of Grand Pacific Junction provides yet another area of wonderful eateries and local retailers.
