Forty-five miles northeast of Eugene, Oregon is the 8,000-person city of Sweet Home. Due to its location near lakes, rivers and the Cascade Mountains, Sweet Home is sometimes referred to as the Gateway to the Santiam Playground. First settled in 1851, the area was and is still known for its precious and lucrative variety of agate, jasper, crystals, and minerals.
