About Cayce

Site of early European settlement and originally known as the backcountry, Cayce is home to Fort Granby, where various Revolutionary War skirmishes were fought. On the western banks of the Congaree River, Cayce features a Riverwalk that supports walking, jogging, and nature observation as well as a developing tourist industry. A number of shops and restaurants have popped up along the walk in recent years, offering breathtaking views of the river. With a population of 12,000 residents, Cayce is a rather exclusive community just 5 minutes from the Columbia city center that is exactly 3 miles away. In fact, the town is so close to downtown Columbua on the east banks of the Congaree that many residents of a Cayce house or apartment for rent walk to work instead of driving. The Columbia Metropolitian Airport is located on the western edge of Cayce and provides domestic service throughout the United States and offers 1-stop connections from coast to coast. Residents of an apartment or home rental in Cayce look forward to community events including the Congaree Bluegrass Festival, Cayce's Tree Lighting Ceremony, Lights of Cayce, Christmas in Cayce, and new Riverwalk Festival. The University of South Carolina is across the river, although the institution operates a few facilities in Cayce and also invites the community to participate and attend many speaker series and athletic events. Glenwood Park, Ellen Taylor Park, State Street Park, and Guignard Park are the largest local recreational areas and provide everything from basic walking trails and playgrounds to gyms and exercise equipment.
