Built at the intersection of 2 railroads, Humboldt was originally built to serve a growing transportation industry. The Humboldt Municipal Airport was simultaneously built to serve that purpose, although it is now only used by general aviation. The area’s largest employer is Procter and Gamble Defense Corporation that runs the Milan Arsenal, a few miles east of Humboldt.
