The community of Newington consists of about 20,000 residents. Newington is located on the outskirts of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and serves mostly as a residential community. Many excellent educational institutions are located in the area, including George Mason University, Northern Virginia Community College, and Southeastern University. Homeowners in the area will find easy access to the D.C. area via the Washington Metro. Although Newington may consist of mostly residential housing, the community is close to all of the attractions that nearby cities including Alexandria and Washington D.C. have to offer. Newington is close to excellent shopping, dining, historic sites, and fun outdoor recreational activities.
