About Lake Stevens

Located in Snohomish County, Lake Stevens is situated southeast of Marysville, north of Snohomish, and east of Everett. Since the year 2000 the population has more than doubled, to include about 15,000 residents today. The area was first a settled in 1886 and was supposedly named after Governor Isaac I. Stevens. In 1905, a railroad built by the Rucker Brothers Timber Company, linked Hartford with Lake Stevens. Soon after, Rucker Mill was opened and it became known as “the world’s largest sawmill.” After the mill burned down in 1925, Lake Stevens became primarily a resort community until its natural beauty and popularity led it to become that of a suburban community. Much of the recreational activity in the city is centered around the lake itself. The city also contains many other beautiful parks including Sunset Park and North Cove Park. Some events that take place in Lake Stevens include a farmer’s market, music in the park, Aquafest, and the Bull Trout Regatta. The Centennial Trail, Comcast Ice Arena, Imagine Children’s Museum, and Marysville Skate Inn are also located in this beautiful and charming city.
