Longview is a beautiful city located in Cowlitz County at the confluence of the Cowlitz and Columbia Rivers, approximately 50mi. north of Portland, Oregon. It was founded in 1923 by R.A. Long of the Long-Bell Lumber Company on the site of old Monticello. The city was planned for community of 75,000, but today, there’s only a population of 35,000 residents. Longview was developed as one of the world’s greatest lumber centers, where it contains paper, would, aluminum, paints, and food-processing industries. The port located in the city also serves the nearby city of Kelso. Lower Columbia College is also located in Longview. The city of Longview offers a wide array of fun outdoor and recreational activities. Residents living in a home or apartment for rent and visitors can take a historic walking tour, hike, bike, golf, fish, boat, or stroll along the banks of the beautiful Sacagawea Lake. The city also hosts many events and festivals such as a county fair, and the Castle Rock Fair. The city of Longview is an amazing place to live, and there are always things to do.
