About Snohomish

Situated in Snohomish County along the Snohomish River, the city of Snohomish has a population of about 9,000. The city refers to itself as the “Antique Capital of the Northwest” and takes great pride in its historic downtown feel and many antique shops. Many of the city’s houses are considered to be historic, and each year, the city puts these houses on display and gives tours of these houses to those who are interested. The city was founded in 1860 by E.C. Ferguson and E.F. Cady. The city was originally named Cadyville, but was changed to Snohomish in 1871. The name Snohomish is derived from the name of the dominant local Native American tribe. Snohomish was officially incorporated in 1883. The city of Snohomish is an excellent place to live in because of its rich history, great shopping and dining, good schools, and all of the fun attractions that can be found in the city. Snohomish has farmers markets, movies in the park, community barbeques, garden tours at the Snohomish Garden Club, and much, much more. The city also contains many beautiful parks where residents or visitors can go to relax or have fun.
