Named after the Chippewa Indians, Chippewa Falls is located on the Chippewa River in Chippewa County. The city has a population of about 13,000 residents, and is the county seat of Chippewa County. The city was incorporated in 1869, and is known for being the birthplace of Seymour Cray, and the location of the headquarters for the original Cray Research. The city is also home to the Leinenkugel Brewing Company and the Heyde Center for the Arts, which showcases local, regional, national, and international artists and performers. Chippewa Falls was also named one of the top ten Small Towns in America by Time magazine. The city boast small town living with quality jobs and a superb quality of life. One of the most popular events held in Chippewa Falls is the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, which is held there each year. The city also has excellent shopping, dining, and recreational opportunities.
