About Somers
Located in Kenosha County, the town of Somers has a population of about 10,000 residents. The community was originally named Pike in 1843 because of an act of the Wisconsin legislature, but the town gained its current name of Somers in 1851. For a short period of time, the community was also named Aurora, which the post office located in the Willis Tavern operated with. Berryville is one division within Somers, which is primarily a residential and business community. This community was named for the numerous strawberry farms located in the area. Residents living in a home or apartment for rent can find Somers to be a very relaxing a peaceful community to live it. The Mid-City Outdoor Theatre, which was one of Wisconsin’s first drive-in theatres, was also located in Somers. The University of Wisconsin – Parkside is also located in Somers and offers great educational opportunities.
